ABDUL KALAM, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri has kindly agreed to be the National President of the MIT Golden Jubilee Committee. The significant activities of the celebrations will comprise the following :
1) In consonance with our Founder's Vision starting of new and innovative programs as we have done in the recent times in Avionics and Mechatronics.
2) Institute "Chairs" and initiate Projects and R & D activities.
3) Conduct of National/International Seminars, Industrial Exhibition, Open House, Cultural and Sports Events and Re-Union of the alumni and faculty (present and past) of MIT.
4) Construction of a GOLDEN JUBILEE COMMEMORATIVE LECTURE HALL COMPLEX, a 3 floor block with an area of 1400 sq.m. (costing approx. Rs.1.5 crores).
5) Establishing centres of excellence in futuristic areas like Composite Materials, Digital Signal Processing and Flow Instrumentation.
6) Bringing out a GOLDEN JUBILEE SOUVENIR & WORLDWIDE DIRECTORY of the alumni of MIT.
The total budget is about Rs.3.5 Crores out of which, sponsored projects to the tune of Rs.1.5 crores are being obtained from various funding agencies.
We invite the alumni of MIT to play a vital
role in realising many of the objectives we have set. The 7000 and more
alumni could rise as one unit and strive to generate the needed funds through
personal donations, group collections, and identifying sponsors/support
from Industries and trusts. Collections have already started from the MIT
colleagues as seed money towards meeting the initial expenses to set the
ball rolling.
