With advancements in computing power and computing technologies, computers could reduce information overload which is today’s main botheration. The department of Computer Technology, a university department dawn youngest in MIT campus of Anna University, bifurcated from the department of Information Technology, has been instilled with blooming bunch of cohesive group working towards attaining global excellence in academics and research. We, at this department, offer the programmes on Computer science and Engineering at under graduate and post graduate level and full time and part time research programmes.
The teaching-learning process emphasizes equally on theoretical and practical aspects, to cater to the needs of the industries. Students demonstrate their capability by publishing the outcome of their project works in the national and international journals and by presenting papers in various conferences held at different levels under the able supervision of the faculty. Students exhibit their programming skills by participating and winning prizes in the national and international level ACM programming contests.
The department possesses collaborative sponsored research projects worth of about 5 crores, and the Centre for Advanced Computing Research and Education (CARE) housed in this department is recognized as one of the grid cluster in the national GRID Garuda project and it aims to provide intelligent solutions for computational / data intensive applications in the distributed environment.
Attaining “Centre of Excellence” in technical education and research is the vision of the department. With dedicated teamwork, highly configured laboratory infrastructure and resources, smart class rooms and industry oriented curriculum, the mission set for achieving Excellence in the fields of Academics, Research and Development, is not far from completion. The department has set “Providing excellent academic atmosphere to cater the needs of industries and research organizations” as its motto.
