 The
Electronics Department was started in 1949 and was the first in the country
to offer formal training in the area of Electronics. The main objective
of the department right from its inception was to provide high quality
trained manpower as well as technical inputs primarily to meet requirements
of the Indian Industries and Indian R&D establishments.
The
field of Electronics occupies a unique position in the area of Technologies
one which was nurtured by some of the best minds of this century, one that
has witnessed highest rate of obsolescence. The department over the years
has been adapting its curriculum, laboratories and research programs to
stay abreast of all the developments in Electronics and related areas.
In all its programs, it has managed to acquire the right mix of computers
and communication, which is what is fuelling the explosive growth of Electronics
today.
