The Department also has research programs leading to MS & Ph.D Degrees. The Faculty in the Department concentrates on three major field of Aeronautical Engineering viz., Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structures and Propulsion. The Department has the potential to carry out research in Composite structures, Computational Mechanics, Non-Destructive Testing. In recent past Department has taken up several projects from various funding agency and the details of which are given. Also the faculty has carried out several projects through Centre for Aerospace Research. The Department staff has collaborative research with Prof. Yukio Tamura, Tokyo Polytechnic University through J.S.P.S. (Japan Society for Promotion of Science), Government of Japan. Also the Department has taken steps in having collaborative research activities and staff student exchange programmes with IOWA State University, USA To improve more research activities a Chair in memory of Prof. K.A.V.Pandalai, a former professor and Head, Department of Aerospace Engineering, a Chair has been created with the financial support from Aeronautical Research & Development Board (AR&DB) Ministry of Defence. Under the Chair a number of research activities related to Defence and Space Programmes are being taken up. Major Research Projects
Major consultancy projects: The Department has undertaken a major consultancy project on “Design & Development of Artificial Composite Limb”, Department of Science & Technology, Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) for an amount of Rs 67.50. Another Consultancy project on “Design and analysis of CFR Motor Case” sponsored by DRDL, Hyderabad for an amount of Rs 3,00,000/- were undertaken by this department. |
