COMMUNICATION LAB The Communication Laboratory course prescribed in the undergraduate curriculum is conducted in this lab which is equipped with essential test and measurement equipments. All the Baseband hardware related projects are carried out in this lab. The FPGA based implementations are supported by the VLSI Lab of this department equipped with the full range of FPGA development tools and FPGA development boards. The DSP based implementations are supported by the developmental tools and TI processor boards available in the DSP lab. For Multimedia application related projects like Video compression PCI based Video processing card is also available in the department. Further, to support R&D efforts, high end Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzer, Logic Analyzers, Mixed Signal Oscilloscopes, BER meter and Arbitrary waveform generators are also available ( FIST & TEQIP sponsored). Some of the subsystems related to the Microsatellite project (ANUSAT) are also developed here.
NETWORKING AND COMPUTER COMMUNICATION LAB Apart from catering to the undergraduate laboratory course requirements and projects, there is considerable amount of research in the area of computer networking. Research is focused on fundamental issues underlying the design and analysis of next generation digital networking infrastructure. Current research embraces a wide variety of issues pertinent to both wireless and wired/fiber networks that includes the design of protocol stack, Sensor networks, Network security, VOIP and Optical networks. The equipments include 25 numbers of LAN Terminals with router facility. To address the industrial requirements a CAN controller with interface to 8 terminals is available. The computational facility includes simulation software tools like NS-2, GlomoSim and Opnet( Student Version) VLSI LAB This lab has Cadence full suite tools to support the entire Digital ASIC Design Flow from Front End to Back End and Analog custom IC design. This lab is meant for undergraduate laboratory course & student projects in VLSI.
