I am happy to inform that the academic year 2010-11 is a year of achievements. 54 out of 58 B.E. Production Engineering students have got jobs in 27 companies. It is noteworthy that out of these 27 companies 20 are Manufacturing Engineering Industries and only 7 are IT Industries. Despite of promising placements, 17 of our UG students have obtained good score in GATE 2010 Examination. 4 students are aiming for higher studies at abroad. 4 students have secured good marks in CAT 2010. About 60% of the PG students have got jobs either in Industries or in Institutes. While M.E.Mechatronics students are keen in joining Industries, M.E. Manufacturing Engineering students wish to further their career either as a teacher or researcher.

Our students have won more than 20 prizes in various National and State level competitions. Our students won a total prize of Rs.1, 60,000/- in a Robot competition code named Driving innovation conducted by CVRDE-DRDO. In a competition conducted by National Instruments a prize worth of Rs.50, 000/- was won by our M.E.Mechatronics students for their project on CNC Engraving Machine. In the academic side, 4 Research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. About 20 papers have been published in International & National Journals. An AICTE R& D project (5 lakhs) on Ultrasonic Cavitation of Metal Matrix Composite is on going. Two of our staff members visited universities at abroad. Faculty Development Programmes on Mechatronics & Operation Research have been conducted.

EXPRO 2011, the students technical meet was conducted on 4th & 5th March 2011. A mamooth quantum 800 students participated in the event. Our student conducted two workshops on Embedded system and Advanced Manufacturing Processes. On 5th March 2011, about 50 Alumini participated in the Alumini Meet. With the support of Alumini, it has been planned to renovate the floorings of our department.

The 22nd Prof.M.S.Selvam Memorial lecture was conducted on 22nd March 2011. On this occasion Prof.M.S.Selvam’s family donated Rs.20,000/- to The Association of Production Engineers.
