The Society of Plastics And Rubber Technologists is a body comprising of students and staff members of the Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology, which constantly strives to improve the personality of all the students of this illustrious department. OUR VISION: Our aim is to evolve and remain a unique association that sculpts the Students of the Institution into leading, sought after Professionals of their respective industries and to mould the thinking of prospective Researchers in Plastics, Rubber and the allied fields, and to give the passionate leaders of tomorrow’s society, by laying the right foundation today.
SPART ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR (2011-2012)
FRESHERS’ DAY on Aug 19th 2011: An evening exclusively for new members of the department’s family, the first years, to know more about the wonderful department where they would be spending the four best years of their life. This includes, • A presentation on the various activities, facilities, records and the staff members of our department. • Introduction sessions by the freshers. • Descriptions of the various scholarships available
INDIAN PLASTICS INSTITUTE- M.I.T STUDENTS SUB-CHAPTER INAUGURATION ON 22ND AUGUST 2011: A student’s sub-chapter of the Indian Plastics Institute for the students of our department was inaugurated on 22nd August 2011. The event was graced by the presence of- Mr T M S Mani, Regional Manager, Reliance Plastics. Mr C Jaisingh, Kangaroo Plastics LLC, Dubai.
SPART INAUGURATION: SPART activities for the year 2011-2012 were inaugurated successfully on the 24th of August 2011 in the presence of all our student and staff members. The inauguration was made even more memorable by a talk on “Entrepreneurial opportunities in rubber” by- Proprietor, Ideal Rubber Products.
SPART PROPOSED ACTIVITIES
TEACHERS’ DAY: A day to honour the very people who mould us into successful professionals, our Teachers. We plan to conduct this as a surprise event with the staff members of our department and also those from other departments who showed us light as we progressed through our stay at M.I.T. Just our way of saying a big ‘Thank You’.
DEPARTMENT LIBRARY: · Renovation of department library · Allotting a separate room · Assigning accession numbers to all books to regulate the borrowing of books by students GUEST LECTURES: We aim to organise guest lectures from eminent personalities in the field of rubbers and plastics, every month for the benefit of the students and to have a continuous interface with the industry. Guest lectures in the field of plastics will be held every month under the banner of IPI-Students sub-chapter.
PLASTICS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN: Aimed at bringing awareness to general public & school students, in proper ways of using and disposing plastic products.
