Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) has a huge and spectacular sports facility covering an area of 28 acres of land at the MIT Main Campus and at Annexure (Rani Thottam) - one km away from the Main Campus.
1. Sports Facility at the MIT Main Campus:
Facility to play Volley Ball, Ball Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho has been provided to students and staff at MIT.
2. Indoor Sports Facility at the MIT Main Campus:
A Spectacular Indoor Gymnasium has been bestowed with the following:
1.Basket Ball Court, Five Badminton Courts, Weight Lifting Training equipment, a mini platform to perform fitness exercises and tables to play Table-Tennis.
2.In Hostel, separate facilities to play indoor games such as Chess, Carrom, Badminton, Table Tennis, and outdoor facilities such as Tennikoit, Volley Ball and Throw Ball courts are provided.
3.Multi-Gym Facility at MIT Main Campus:
A newly-erected 12 stations Multi-Gym Facility has been kept open for Students (Men & Women) and Staff.
4. Sports Facility at MIT Annexe (Rani Thottam):
It is situated a kilometer away from the Main Campus. It has 400 Mts 8 Lane Track & Field facility, Foot Ball Field, Hockey Field, Ball Badminton Courts, Volley Ball Court, Kabaddi Court, Kho – Kho Court, Cricket Oval, a Mini stadium to perform fitness exercises.
5. National Sports Organisation (NSO) Activities:
The NSO activity at MIT is a unique and regular feature for the enrolled students from the very first year onwards. It comprises (i) comprehensive sports programs for the whole year and (ii) A ten-day Compulsory Residential Summer Coaching Camp at the end of the second semester.
6.Physical Education Personnel:
Dr. B. Balakumaran(2017 - Till date), Spots Officer, is looking after the sports activities at MIT Campus along with other supporting staff in the Department of Physical Education.
Mrs. Evelyn Synthiya(2016 - 2017), Assistant Director of Physical Education, is looking after the sports activities at MIT Campus along with other supporting staff in the Department of Physical Education.

He has been into Speedcubing for the past 5 years since 2013.
He qualified and participated in the World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017 held at Paris, France, during 13th to 16th July 2017 and secured 6th place.
The World Rubik’s Cube Championship is held once in 2 years, and this is a competition where all the World Class Speed cubers participate. This year, around 1100 Participants, spanning bout 72 Countries participated.
He is holding 2 National Records for Solving the Rubik's cube with feet (in both Single and Average categories). Also, he is one among 4 Indians to be holding the ‘National Champion’ Title on a Hat-trick, continuously for the past 3 years (2015, 2016, and 2017).

Mr.M.Ajay Kumar (2017504002) 1st year ECE Department for securing silver medal south zone Inter-University handball tournament held at Krishna University, Andhra Pradesh and has entered semi-finals in All India University held at Madhya Pradesh.
D. Rakesh, II Year Production Engineering participated in the Tamil Nadu Para Athletics Sports Meet held on 26.01.2018 to 28.01.2018 at Madurai and secured following medals:
100M - Silver
200M - Gold
Long Jump - Bronze
4 x 100M - Gold
And also got selected for Nationals which is going to be held at Haryana in the last week of March.
Y. Adithya Charan (2014502003) IV Year Department of Automobile, selected for Anna University Roll Ball team and participated All India Inter University championships at Jammu University, Jammu and secured fourth place. The championship held during January 1st week, 2018.
